Our mission as a church comes from the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), which can be summed up as:
Being disciples of Jesus Christ and making disciples of all nations.
Being Disciples: Being disciples of Christ is not merely professing right beliefs about Him. It means being His apprentices, putting our confidence in Him as our Master and learning from Him how to live our lives as He would live if He were in our situations.
Making Disciples: Out of the abundance of our life with Christ, we reach out to others with the Good News of God’s kingdom and make disciples of all those whom God has placed in our lives, showing them through our words and deeds what it means to live as a Kingdom people.
Discipleship is a process of transformation whereby we increasingly take on the character of Christ through the grace and power of the Spirit. It involves the following four aspects, all of which are necessary if we are to grow like a tree and bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit:
-
Worship: Worship is the central activity from which all of our life and ministry flow out. Authentic worship involves bowing down before the Almighty Creator, acknowledging His kingship over us, and giving honor and glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
-
Word: The Word of God is Spirit and life (John 6:63) and has the power to transform our whole being. In order to experience this transforming power, we must learn to abide in the Word (John 8:31), living it continually with a constant vision of Christ and His kingdom before our mind.
-
Koinonia: We are not isolated individuals but a koinonia (fellowship) of disciples, with Christ reigning at the center. As we fix our eyes on Him, the Spirit unites us with the love of Christ and enables us to share our joys and sorrows, our needs and resources, and our hopes and yearnings with one another.
-
Mission: Called to be a blessing to others, we no longer live for ourselves, but for Christ and His Kingdom (2Cor 5:15). Wherever God has placed us, we live with a mission mindset, reaching out to others with the joy of Christ, walking with those who suffer, and giving generously to the cause of God’s kingdom.
We invite you to join us in our journey with Jesus Christ, our Lord, Teacher, and Friend. We pray that you would have an abundant life of joy and power, with a constant vision of Christ and His kingdom before you and with eternal significance in all that you do.
